The Script -
Alot of this video is performance rather than narrative and the musicians are used in this video mainly, which differs from there usual videos. But there is a clear line between the two.
The clothes worn in this video are black and white, which matches the scene of the video.
The overall style of the video is quite edgy/rocky and it has quite a sad vibe to it.
The band is trying to represent death in a way and it portrays a sad image.
I think this appeals to teenagers and young adults, as The Script are a very popular band amongst teenagers but the message of this video is more aimed towards young adults. It attracts both males and females and also all sorts of races.
I think this video is very important in the marketing of the band as it will draw people in and get them an even bigger fan base.

Disclosure -
All of this video is performance based and there are two main people throughout the whole video.
Locations are very broad and there are many different places used in this video and the colours are vibrant. They are wearing everyday normal clothes which I think is a good idea as it shows that it is just casual and this represents what a lot of people may wear on a normal day to day basis.
The overall style of the video is simplistic but effective. It is a laid back video but is also very exciting.
The artists of this video are trying to represent a relationship within this video and the two main actors emphasise this throughout the video.
I think this video is trying to appeal to teenagers as the quirky video is something that would entice people of this age. It appeals to both genders and all races.
I think this video is important to the marketing of the band as it will promote them. But not majorly as they aren't actually in the music video and we don't get an idea of what they are actually like.

Example -
A lot of this video is performance rather than narrative and there is a clear line shown between the two.
The colours in this video are quite bright and exciting colours. There aren't many different locations and they are all based in different rooms of a house. The clothes are casual clothes that people would wear everyday.
The overall style of the video is
This artist is trying to represent a relationship but in a clever way. I really like how the split scenes are used in this video and I think it is a very clever way to show a relationship.
The video is trying to appeal to teenagers and young adults who are interested in Example's music. I would say the video is more aimed at females as they are more interested in the relationship aspect and it would appeal to them more.
The video is important in marketing Example as it shows what kind of character he is and fan bases of an artist love to see this.

Natalie Imbruglia -
A lot of this video is performance based by Natalie Imbruglia.
There isn't a wide range of locations used and the majority is in the same room in a house. The clothes worn are very casual and the colours used are quite dull. This is the same throughout the video and the style of the video is quite relaxed but also shows an important message.
The artist is trying to represent a broken relationship and this is emphasised in the title of "torn".
I think this video appeals to females due to the storyline of it and mainly to young adults.
The video is very important to the song as it emphasises the title and is a significant part of the song.

The Kooks -
This video is performance based with the band performing the song throughout.
The location of this video is mainly by a pool, and the band are wearing casual indie clothes.
The overall style is casual and it is an indie kind of video. The band is trying to present an image of how the girl is different to other girls.
I think it appeals to boys mainly as the storyline is more realistic to males and they will be fond of the idea of the video.

How much of the video is narrative and how much is performance? Is there a clear line between the two?

In what ways are these used in the video: clothes, locations and colours? – Connotation and denotation

What is the overall style of the video?
