Our finished A2 Evaluation

This is our finished A2 Evaluation; this was probably the hardest piece of coursework to finish. We didn’t realise just how much editing would be involved. When looking back on other peoples evaluations I saw a 30 minute evaluation and thought there would be no way we would be able to create an evaluation that long, but we have. We worked extremely hard on this evaluation and we are happy to finally of got it finished after all of our hard work. We put in loads of extra hours after school hours to ensure this is finished to the best of our ability.
We kept it simple by using the same font text throughout and kept the background black. We’ve imported many voice overs and videos of ourselves into this evaluation to keep it interesting. We also converted YouTube videos into mp4 so that we could import them into our evaluation and we also converted YouTube videos into just mp3 so that it is just the sound playing in the background.
We hope our hard work has paid off and that you like our evaluation.

Our Finished A2 Music Video

This is our finished A2 Music video, we are extremely happy with our finished music video and we hope you like it just as much as we do.

Our finished poster advert

This is the finished poster for Rihanna’s A Girl Like Me album which includes our PS I’m Still Not Over You song. We our happy with how our end product for our poster advert looks. I like how we have kept everything in the axis in line with each other and it is well structured. We have all the information that is needed on a poster and we hope that our audience likes it just as much as we do.

Our finished digipak

This is the finished digipak that we have created. We decided to keep the front and back covers of our album simple and black. We used a picture of our Rihanna on the front cover when she is staring directly into the camera. We did this to remain conventional to Rihanna’s previous albums when she is all made up and looks nice and is staring at the camera. On the back we have the track listing, barcode and the records Rihanna is signed to. We decided to put pictures of our actress in the inside right which also has the copyright writing with it. In the inside left it is just a simple close up of Rihanna looking down to contrast with her looking up on the front.
We are all happy with our CD digipak and I feel it actually looks like an album that Rihanna would create, it is simple but effective.

Progress on video, digipak and advert

We have been working very hard on our editing of our video and also for our advert and CD digipak as this is all due tomorrow. As a group we put a lot of work into our editing and we are very pleased with how much work we have done for it and we tried really hard to ensure its how we wanted it. We created the poster and we are all happy with how it looks we just need to fully decide on the picture we will definitely be using on it. Rosette has been working hard on the digipak and we all struggled with ideas for this.

We found it extremely hard to get definite ideas for our digipak and over the last few weeks we have struggled majorly with what to put on the front, back and the two insides. We tried many different ideas and pictures and I had the idea of using the shots of her up against the wall on the front and back. We all liked how this looked but then we decided to use these as the inside images instead as we thought it looked better. Then we thought it would also look better if we kept the front and back plain and simple with black backgrounds.

Rihanna's previous music videos (how they start)

As you can see in each of these videos it always starts off with a body part of Rihanna’s, her figure her face, her arm/hand and her legs. I think this is extremely effective as straight away most people would know it is Rihanna and I think the simplicity of it works. We took this into consideration and at the start of our video it shows many quick shots of different parts of Evangeline who is our Rihanna. Each shot is followed by the ‘dip to black’ effect which looks good and I am very happy with this idea.

Update on progress

We have been working hard on our music video and majorly on the editing aspect. We are happy with the new footage once we have edited it but we haven’t got enough footage to complete the video yet. We aren’t too fazed by this as we want to get a lot more close ups of Evangeline and a lot more lip synching. We want more lip synching due to the fact that in Rihanna’s video she has loads of her singing the song and not as much performance based.

Filming

On Saturday we went back to Enfield Town Park to film some new scenes of Joe and Evangeline. When we went to film last time we didn’t have the tripod so this time when we did have it the shots came out a lot steadier and looks much better. When we were filming we came up with new ideas for our video which we have talked through to each other and we all like our new ideas. We will be putting the new footage into our music video and see how it all looks once edited.

Rough Cut

This is the rough cut of our music video PS I’m Still Not Over You. As you can see it is not finished and so far we have only recorded 2:50 our song. We haven’t got long left of the song it is only a minute and a half left. The song doesn’t start with any music as that is how the audio clip is but we will crop this as when we got feedback from our teacher he said the song should start straight away rather than waiting.
Once we edited all of our footage and put it all together we didn’t really like much of what we had recorded and we thought some of the bits were way too shaky to keep as our real music video so we have collectively decided to re-film the park scenes.
As you can see the editing is not up to scratch but due to the short period of time we edited it over we are hoping for it to be much better for our finished piece.

Feedback:
- So far I love how fast the videos cutting rate is
- When completed I think it will be a really good video
- The start of it is a bit shaky, this could be improved. I think it should be re-filmed in order for it to look a lot better.

- I think the opening of your video should begin with your main character

- You need to include Rihanna more in your video, get more close ups of her face and maybe body parts

First Draft Album Cover

As a group we feel that this Digipak doesn't look very good and we can do a lot better. We really struggled with what to put on the insides and we don't like what pictures we have actually picked. We like the front and the back but we will need to have a long, hard think about what we want on the insides and hopefully we will soon come up with a strong initiative.

First draft poster

This is the first draft of our advert for our Rihanna album. We are happy with how it looks so far but there are some improvements we need to make. For example we think we could get a better picture of Evangeline looking sad as I feel you can’t actually see her emotions. For our album we wanted to have her looking down and for the poster we wasn’t entirely sure what we wanted but from looking at how it looks with her looking down we have decided we actually want her to be looking up instead.

We decided to use the same writing as what we are planning on using on the album to keep consistency. I decided to do the title with spaces for Rihanna’s name as I saw this on one of Rihanna’s albums and I thought it looked really good and it also suits our poster’s style.

Editing

Today I began editing the footage that I and Rosette recorded over the Christmas holidays. I was simply looking at all the different bits we got and putting the ones I think would be useful into the sequence. I am editing using Adobe Premier Pro; this is quite different because Tracy who has now dropped Media did the majority of the editing last year. So this is quite new for me but I am not finding it to bad and I am happy with what I have edited so far and I will show Rosette and Nicole to see what they think. They as not in the lesson today due to having an exam but they will see it in our next lesson which is tomorrow and hopefully the like the bits I have cut and the shots I have selected.
When looking at what we have got at the minute we still need to get a lot more footage and I am slightly worried that some of the shots won’t fit as well with each other as we thought but we will see once it is all together. I also think we need to meet up with Joe and Evangeline more than intended to get some more memory shots as I don’t think it adds up to our storyboards that well but I will say this to Rosette and Nicole tomorrow and see what they think.
I also downloaded Rihanna – PS I’m Still Not Over You to the sequence, this is extremely useful so that when I am editing I can see how the shots fit with the actual song as we are trying to do some of the shots to match the lyrics.
Also I definitely think we need to get some shots of Evangeline lip syncing the lyrics I think this will improve our video a lot and make it more appealing to our target audience. This is also something I will discuss with them two tomorrow.

Filming over the Christmas holidays

Over the Christmas holidays me and Rosette went out and started filming for our music video. We met up with our actors Joe and Evangeline and it went ok but it could’ve been a lot better. Due to the weather, which was extremely windy and also raining it held us back a bit. Our hands were freezing and it was hard to hold the camera still to record our shots. We also didn’t have a tripod which made the job a lot more difficult as some recordings weren’t as steady as we would’ve liked them to be.
We also could only meet up with Evangeline once due to her going on holiday for nearly the whole of the 2 weeks. We are hoping to be filming again soon and this time Nicole will also be there which will be a lot easier with three people and to get someone else’s initiative. Nicole could not be there also due to being on holiday for the whole two weeks.
We’ve got some good shots which we were happy with and I think we will definitely be using some of these shots in our music video. Evangeline and Joe took it seriously which made mine and Rosette’s job of filming a lot easier and their acting was good and very believable. I think this was because they are actually a couple in real life so you can see the chemistry between the two characters when we were filming the scenes that will be memories in our video.
